Preparedness

Richard Thetford

Salvation has been prepared for us by God Himself. Zacharias prophesied long ago that Christ would come to prepare a way so that we may have eternal salvation (Luke 1:76). Jesus also tells us that His kingdom has been prepared for us by Him (Matthew 25:34). Why is heaven prepared for us? Obviously from reading God’s Holy Word we can see that it is His desire that each one of us live a life on this earth in such a way that we will be able to join Him in heaven when our days on this earth have ended. But are we prepared right now to be with Christ when that day comes?

One may say “I’ll be ready when that day comes — just give me time.” Well, God is giving us time and we don’t know when that time will come for us, therefore, we must be prepared now (2 Corinthians 6:2). We can prepare to enter heaven by reading the gospel that we have available to us and through purification which is to avoid the worldly things around us and dwell on Godly things. Paul writes to Timothy and says “Therefore, if a man cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work” (2 Timothy 2:21). In addition to this we must always be watching (Matthew 25:1-11), and sanctify Christ (1 Peter 3:15). We must be prepared each day of our life because Jesus tells us that He will return at a time when no man knows (Matthew 24:44). Are we prepared now in order to be able To ENTER into HEAVEN?
